Dear Chris McCandless
Many people have read or watched your story or going in to the wild, even though now everyone has the same views as me on what you did in that they think what you did was the wrong thing to do and that you should have just stayed as home. But I think what you did was anything other than the wrong thing to do and has really inspired me and a lot of other people in a lot of different ways which is a very hard thing to do these days. The main reason I am writing to you is because after reading your extraordinary story (adventure) I got really inspired by your way of looking at the modern world and of Couse the fact that you’re even decided to go into the wild by yourself. I myself decided to get out of the world for a bit and follow in your foot steps and visit the stampede trail and the bus that you now lay to rest. the bravery that I took to do that I really admire and I know for a fact that I don’t have it in me right now and I don’t think I ever will which is really hard to say but I think because of the amount of time I have spent in the modern world surrounded by all these new things I don’t have any experience in anything to do will surviving outside of that way of life.
On the stampede trail it was really easy to relate to everything you was saying about it in your book and film and I must admit I felt like someone I am not (an adventurer) but the beauty of this place is truly unbelievably and I really do understand why you wanted to come out here and just get away from everyone and everything and right now it feels really good to just have time to myself. When I got to the bus the first thing I saw was a little grave stone with your name, date of birth, and the date you died on it, around it was letter, notes and messages engraved into the grave and some were also on the bus its self.
So scene as I’m leaving this note here I just want to say that even though a lot of people think what you did was wrong and some even go as far as saying it was just plain stupid, I myself don’t agree with any of that and I think that what you did was a great think to do and it made you come to terms with what life is all about, spending it with people and spending as much of it with other people and not by yourself. In a way having all these people travel here to the stampede trail and the bus including myself it shows that a lot of people got inspired by your actions and even though your not in our world any more you can enjoy it with all these people (messages) in one of the most beautiful places on the earth.
